Max Verstappen of the Red Bull Racing-Honda team started the race from position 3 in his RB16B race car. In the second race of the season, the drivers had to contend with the difficult weather conditions. Verstappen had the best tactics, winning the race ahead of his long-term rival Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes.
